Made my day!

The most wonderful thing happened to me today, and actually brought tears to my eyes.  Ever since my son was very young I would help him leave Daddy messages on Daddy’s voicemail on his cell phone.  Well today in the mail, arrived an audio disk of all those saved messages!!  It is a little time capsule of my son’s voice from about three years old to today.  It is the most wonderful thing to listen to and as I said, actually brought tears of joy.  What a treasure we now have saved forever on a cd that we can play anytime we want to hear our little boy’s voice!!  We found a wonderful service that you can use too!!  Just go to voicemailmemories.com and call to place your order!!  It only costs $12.00 and they do everything!!  You get the cd delivered by mail right to your home!!  I highly recommend them to my friends and anyone who needs their voicemail messages copied for them!!

Easy Popcorn

My family quit eating microwave popcorn and went back to the good ole’ days of stovetop popcorn for health reasons.  There’s is such a difference in taste, plus I can get creative with it and add anything I want to give it my own flavor.  Stovetop is so much better!

I recently discovered that I can have the best of both worlds.  Did you know that you can have the convenience of microwave popcorn without the health risks that have recently been associated with it? You can!  Simply take your popcorn kernels (I use organic popcorn that I buy from the farmer’s market) and put a couple handfuls in a brown paper lunch bag, fold it closed, lay it flat in your microwave (I put mine on for 3 minutes, pop time will vary depending on your microwave, play around with until you get it right) and VIOLA you have a bag of popcorn!  It’s great to take in the car, put in your kids lunch boxes, or enjoy simply sitting on your couch enjoying a movie and you don’t have the messy clean up, although, if you put too many kernels in you may have to clean out your microwave:)

Enjoy!!!

A Turkey and Serama Bantam Love Story

A good friend of mine recently hatched 1 single turkey, 1 single serama bantam and 11 ducklings.  I hatched 1 single runner duck “Rosie May”  and 6 seramas.  So my friend thought it would be a good idea to trade ducks and seramas, the turkey would still be the only turkey, but at least the duck and serama could have a friend of their own kind. So, I paid her a visit to swap chicks, (this is how “Daisy Duck” came to be with us).  Well, now that her serama had a friend she thought she could take the turkey out of that brooder, she was oh so wrong. Let me just tell you, 2 serama chicks and a turkey chick the same age look very silly together, the size is so different!  The serama that I swapped her for the duckling “screamed” for hours after the turkey was taken out.  Her son even went and woke her up saying, “Mom do something, that chick won’t shut up!”  Not knowing what to do, she thought she’d bring the turkey back and see if that helped.  Low and behold, the “screaming” stopped!  The serama and the turkey had bonded!  Forget that the serama had another little serama to be friends with, she wanted that turkey!  Picture that bond if you can.  A very large breed of bird, and the world’s smallest breed of chicken! Got your visual?  Mine is of a tiny little serama riding around on the turkeys back!  So silly, but so very precious!

Alpaca Fiber Bracelet

Another New Addition….

A few days ago I introduced you to “Rosie May” our runner duckling.  If you read her story, you know she was a big surprise!  A friend had given me 3 blue eggs and those blue eggs ended up being duck eggs! Unfortunately for Lil Rosie May, she was the only hatchling:(  It is to my understanding that ducks will be lonely if they don’t have another duck to be around.  So, as luck would have it, another little runner duckling came our way through a friend.

I would like to introduce you to “Daisy Duck.”
